1.    PyCharm

This is a cross-platform real Python IDE, and not an editor. It can work smoothly with projects of Django, Web2Py, Flask, Twitter, Pyramid, Bootstrap and Google App Engine. The main features are excellent code completion, code-analysis, code-navigation, good debugger, top notch django, HTML,CSS support, Javascript and many more. The only shortcoming that appears in PyCharm is that it is slow and its UI looks non-native in many of the platforms. There have been much improvement in PyCharm speed and with the updation of new version, feature and speed increases.

2.    PyDev

PyDev is an open source Python IDE for eclipse with Django support, and can be used in Python, Jython and Iron-Python development.  Other features include code-completion, code-navigation, analysis, remote debugging and many more. The best way of using PyDev is grouped in LiClipse, which provides PyDevbuiltin and act as a support for other language such as Django Templates, C++, RST, Mako and other.

3.    Komodo IDE

This is for dynamic language such as Python, Ruby and PHP. The new version of Komodo has marked a good improvement and it has features like multiple selection, code refactoring, better UI Interface, fast open dialog box and many other. It is an easy operating IDE whose configuration and easy to find and change. The editor and font rendering of Komodo is among the best. The new version claims to provide better OS X support but it do not support the cocoa textbox shortcuts by default.

4.    WingIDE

It is a solid Integrated development Environment (IDE) from Wingware. It is always been in development since 1999. WingIDE has many updated version and the advanced features includes first-rate debugger, code intelligence, and it can also be extended in Python. It has support for Matplotlib which allows the automatic updation of the plots.

5.    Eric

It is an open source IDE for Python and Ruby. It has a good collection of features such as Python and Ruby debugger, code coverage and automatic code checking, class browser and many more. It seems to be more like an editor rather than IDE, and contains features for Collaborative editing. Eric has been maintained actively (with new version of Eric4 & Eric5) but it fails to support Django and web programming.

6.    IEP

It is mainly a Python editor and not an IDE. It is useful for operators requiring for Matlab replacement. The practical aspects of design aims at simplicity and efficiency. This cross-platform supports multiple Python shells simultaneously and one can easily program GUI toolkits such as GTK, TK, PyQt4, Pyside, fltk and wx. It consist of an editor, a shell and a set of tool to help in programming.
