4.  From a designer’s perspective, both the official rails site and the wider rails ecosystem have incredibly high design standards. Django, whatever its strengths as a framework, doesn’t have that attention to detail which makes it less valuable to those who value it.  It is not so that you can’t create attractive sites with Django, but that it just doesn’t look as polished.

5.  Both frameworks are just great, well thought of and have awesome communities around them. One of the reasons for RoR development to be more popular than Django is a matter of marketing and a lot of word of mouth. There was a time a couple of years ago when rails was for the cool kids so a lot of people jumped on the wagon especially that there weren’t any similar or better alternatives for the first few years where Django was not at all there.

Putting in simple words, Python is much more than a web programming language, and is more popular than Django on the web startups context because it is better.
